Brief Description of Activities

Information technology is building communications networks for an organization, safeguarding data and information, creating and administering databases, helping employees troubleshoot problems with their computers or mobile devices, or doing a range of other work to ensure the efficiency and security of business information.

The Government of Purba Medinipur(as a part of Govt. of West Bengal) is trying to roll out some government schemes through e-governance service and it has successfully implemented a number  of  e-governance  projects  to  establish  quick,  error  free  and  real  time connection.  The target is to convert the entire network of district offices into complete e-offices and ensure all the citizen-centric services under a single window portal. The primary objective of e-governance initiative by the Government of is to transform itself into a knowledge driven welfare society from the archaic bureaucratic structure with extensive use of IT and ITes in governance and positively affect the daily lives of the citizens.

For the above said purpose the Government have ordered the formation of District e-Governance Societies (DeGS) in all the Districts for implementing the e-Governance projects. Accordingly, District e-Governance Societies (DeGS) have been formed in all the Districts. The District e-Governance Society is headed by the District Collector. The district level officials of all service delivery Departments are the members of the Society. The DeGS is responsible for the implementation of the ICT projects at District level. The DeGS will play a key role in the post- implementation and operations of the e-Governance Programme at District level.

How/Where to apply:

Anyone can apply online through https://edistrict.wb.gov.in by creating their own account (i.e. Citizen Registration) or, through Bangla Sahayata Kendras (BSK/s) or, through Common Service Centre (CSC/s) setup in the Gram Panchayat & Municipality areas.
